Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are tried-and-true methods of repairing a smile that has been damaged. Both are very quick ways to bring about a repair. In just a couple of weeks, we can restore a smile to an improved condition, to the relief and pleasure of our patient!

About Dental Crowns

We may choose to place crowns in all the following situations:

  • When a tooth has chipped, cracked or fractured.
  • If a large filling must be placed which causes the tooth to be weakened.
  • After root canal therapy to help keep the tooth strong for many years.
  • When an impact injury damages the nerve and blood supply making the tooth brittle.
  • If a tooth is badly stained and will not respond to whitening.
  • When a patient wants to improve the color, shape or spacing of their teeth.

A strong white crown will cover a tooth completely and protect it from further damage.

About Dental Bridges

Bridges are the fastest method of replacing a missing tooth. A bridge is composed of two crowns with one or two replacement teeth in the middle. To place a bridge, the teeth on either side of a gap are prepared for crowns. The crowns fit snugly over these two teeth and the central one or two replacement teeth fill the gap left by missing teeth.

Bridges can also be supported by dental implants which provide a highly satisfactory and long-lasting solution for our patients.
